  • When officiating women's baseball contests or representing the Women's Baseball Umpire Association, the alternate Womens' Baseball Umpire Association patch (as shown below) may be worn on the left breast pocket.

INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR STATUS

In accordance with IRS regulations, all umpires are "Independent Contractors" and are not employees of  the WBUA LLC, World Baseball Umpire Alliance, World Baseball Umpire Academy or Womens Baseball Umpire Association, any conference or any specific team or league.  Officials retained by the WBUA LLC agree to hold the WBUA LLC, World Baseball Umpire Alliance, World Baseball Umpire Academy and/or Womens Baseball Umpire Association, any and all conferences, teams or leagues, the Executive Director, Vice President(s) and officers of the WBUA LLC harmless from all liability for injury or damage sustained as a result of any assignment or activity associated with the WBUA LLC.

INSURANCE

Officials are required to provide their own medical, health, general liability, loss of game fees and other insurances as necessary.  Many of our current officials belong to the ABUA (American Baseball Umpire Association) and/or NASO (National Association of Sports Officials) to take advantage of the group insurance coverages available through those organizations.
