OUR UNIFORMS WBUA LLC uniforms consist of a Black
with White Trim or a Powder Blue with Black Trim MLB-style shirt, with or without the official WBUA logo
patch (as shown above), or embroidery affixed directly above or on the left front pocket. Numbers on shirts are optional. Grey umpire slacks with either patent leather or smooth black leather belt, black shoes
and solid black socks are mandatory. No other slacks, belts, shoes or socks are approved for use in the WBUA LLC. Hats
shall be fitted and black in color. No lettering or inscription other than the embroidered WBUA logo
is to appear on the front. Plain black hats without any inscription or embroidery are also acceptable when officiating
as a member of the WBUA LLC. When officiating
women's baseball contests or representing the Women's Baseball Umpire Association,
the alternate Womens' Baseball Umpire Association patch (as shown below)
may be worn on the left breast pocket.
INDEPENDENT
CONTRACTOR STATUS In
accordance with IRS regulations, all umpires are "Independent Contractors" and are not employees of the WBUA
LLC, World Baseball Umpire Alliance, World Baseball Umpire Academy or Womens Baseball Umpire Association, any conference
or any specific team or league. Officials retained by the WBUA LLC agree to hold the WBUA
LLC, World Baseball Umpire Alliance, World Baseball Umpire Academy and/or Womens Baseball Umpire Association, any
and all conferences, teams or leagues, the Executive Director, Vice President(s) and officers of the WBUA LLC harmless
from all liability for injury or damage sustained as a result of any assignment or activity associated with the WBUA
LLC. INSURANCE Officials are required to provide their own medical, health, general
liability, loss of game fees and other insurances as necessary. Many of our current officials belong to the ABUA (American Baseball Umpire Association) and/or NASO
(National Association of Sports Officials) to take advantage of the group insurance coverages available
through those organizations.
